Birthday hike - Lower Salmon River Trail (6/7/15)

This year's birthday was a bit different. I played handbells in the morning, so that ate away half the day, but then I wanted to go on a hike with my fam - a three-year tradition now.

Because of Dad's recent back surgery, we chose the Lower/Old Salmon River Trail, a flat, easy hike along the river - about 5 miles in all. Thankfully, it was "cooler" in the shade by the water.
We were starving by the time we got there, so we quickly found a spot by the river and put out our lunch spread: fruit, cheese and crackers:
Then we hit the woodsy trail.
It's a really gorgeous area.
Unfortunately, Eryn caught a nasty cold last week and opted to stay home and not spread her germs.
Because it was so hot, lots of kinda sketchy people were there to cool off in the river. Several nudies, lots of intoxication and vulgarity, some weed smoking with the kiddos nearby. I guess that's why we usually go to the more remote,  rugged places. Still, it was a beautiful hike!

After, we returned to our house to nosh on red velvet cheesecake Brad bought for me - yum! :)
