Weekly Wednesday: movie, lunch, bomb squad

We kicked off Weekly Wednesday last week with an outing to Bridgeport Village.

First up: $1 Summer Movie Express. Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Next: lunch at Native Foods Cafe. I had enough points on my reward card that my meal cost just $.45!
And day-old cupcakes from SweetestThing - buy one, get one!.
Tummies filled and happy, we were returning to our car in the parking garage when police tape and flashing lights caught our eye. What's going on?

We went through The Container Store and saw why the parking lot was blocked: a suspicious backpack left by a minivan.
We debated whether standing in front of the plate-glass window was wise. But our curiosity won out.

A bomb-squad guy came over to X-ray the bag:
He hid behind a car while the machine did its thing:
He left and eventually returned to examine the bag:
Satisfied that it was just clothes, he walked away - leaving the bag behind:
The police tape quickly came down, and mall security rushed over to gather the bag.
Then came the guy in the orange shirt, who apparently owned the minivan and the bag. They wouldn't give it back. He didn't seem happy.
For just a couple bucks, we had a really exciting day out! :)

PS - We're glad it was just a bag of clothes.

PPS - Don't leave your bags unattended in public.
